Reverend James McCray retired from Jones Memorial United Methodist Church in 2008

Chairman James McCray, Jr. joined the SFMTA Board of Directors in early 2002 after having served on the Parking and Traffic Commission since 1997. In 2006, Rev. Dr. McCray was elected Chairman to the SFMTA Board of Directors.  Rev. Dr. McCray volunteers his time as Chaplain for the San Francisco Police and Fire Departments, and as a member and treasurer of the San Francisco Housing Development Corporation. He is a founding member of the Tabernacle Community Development Corporation, working to sustain affordable housing in the City by the Bay. Dr. McCray, a native San Franciscan, served as Senior Minister of the Jones Memorial United Methodist Church from 1982 until his retirement in 2008.  Chairman McCray is a regular Muni rider.
